• Exec (discontinued): The older disc-detainer line with the black key head. Exec deadbolts are no longer manufactured, but we install Protec2 retrofits that fit the same door prep and maintain the same keying if you have a master key system. This is where the OEM-versus-aftermarket decision matters: an OEM Protec2 cylinder carries the full Abloy warranty and key control, while quality aftermarket cylinders exist for Exec replacements where key control is less critical.

We identify the series by the key head color, the cylinder face marking, and the bolt throw measurement. • Visible corrosion on the cylinder face or bolt. Brass and stainless steel resist corrosion, but the zinc alloy housing underneath does not.
